The New York Times surmised Wednesday that President Obama could shake up his administration in the near future, even if they are suck-ups and Kool-Aid drinkers as one liberal pundit suggested.
Pointing to the mishandling of the Ebola crisis and the Islamic State militants who’ve been running roughshod across the Middle East, The Times said the “battle-tested but exhausted White House loyalists and cabinet members” are not as cohesive as the “team of rivals” in his first Cabinet.
You may recall that Obama said he wanted a Lincoln-esque “team of rivals” in his original cabinet.
The thinking man’s favorite liberal, Kirsten Powers, appeared Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Outnumbered” to say Obama is the problem, not his Cabinet members.
“The president tends to surround himself with people that suck up to him. … I think he has a lot of, sort of, Kool-Aid drinkers who think everything he does is right and I think he needs to be able to have people there to confront him,” she said.
There goes her invitation to the next big White House shindig!
“And he doesn’t — he claims that he had this idea like Lincoln, he was going to have all these people disagreeing with each other, but I don’t think he really has,” she continued. “I think he has a lot of Kool-Aid drinkers who think everything he does is right, and I think he needs to be able to have people there to confront him.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle chimed in to say Obama doesn’t want to hear criticism and to voice her skepticism that there will be many changes.
