A still sharp 82-year-old black grandmother, a Democrat, called into C-Span recently to offer her two cents on the state of her party and it wasn’t pretty.
More importantly, the woman, identified as Joyce, told “Washington Journal” host Greta Brawner she voted straight Republican this year.
“I have noticed in years what the Democratic Party has done to my people,” Joyce said. “Unemployment is higher in the black community than anywhere else.”
But she didn’t stop there, Joyce went on to express her disappointment on issues like religion, abortion and wealth redistribution.
“There’s no way I can continue to say that I was a Christian and stay in the Democrat party,” Joyce said. “They advocate the killing of babies, they advocate taking from the doers and giving to the ones sitting doing nothing.”
She called out those who complain that people criticize President Obama just because he’s black.
“We need to stop that foolishness,” Joyce said. “This man is destroying this country and that’s what he intended to do. He said he was going to transform America and that is what he is doing.”
Brawner cut her off to get other callers in, and to be fair she did give Joyce nearly two minutes to rant, but she couldn’t get her off the line fast enough.
As for Joyce, you are witnessing the last of the old school Democrats who’ve been slow to embrace the secular progressive policies of today’s Democratic Party.
