A week after putting to rest the ghosts of last year’s family controversy, young Sadie Robertson went gunning for victory on “Dancing With the Stars” on Monday.
And she nailed it – for one week anyway – with the highest score of the night by dancing a hip-hop Charleston to “Swing Moderne” with professional dancer Derek Hough.
Hough was Sadie’s partner for switch-up week, when the stars and the pros mix up their combinations. And while both seemed a little nervous — Sadie was afraid she’d miss regular partner Mark Ballas — they did just fine.
First, though, she got a chance to teach her temporary mentor a thing or two at the gun range, taking the obviously novice shooter out for a day of trading the dance floor for firearms.
“I’m really hoping I can be accepted into the Duck Dynasty clan,” Hough said after Sadie’s father Willie dropped in for a surprise rehearsal visit in a video package that ran before the pair took the floor for competition.
He might have to shoot better, as the footage showed Hough is pretty unfamiliar with weaponry.
“It’s OK,” the teenage Sadie told him, clearly more comfortable with the guns. “You’ve got to start somewhere.”
He’s aiming high anyway.
Check out the performance here. Those high marks – 36 out of 40 in a non-elimination night – were well-deserved. Hear it right from the judges themselves.
