AARP tells Democrats to remove its name from attack ad

The AARP has asked to be removed from a Democrat-produced ad ripping apart Michigan GOP Senate candidate Terri Lynd Land for poor treatment of seniors.

The organization that prides itself on feigned “nonpartisanship” sent out a press release (below) stating that it had not authorized the use of its name in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee sponsored ad.

“Michiganders deserve a Senator that will fight to preserve the Medicare guarantee, not Terri Lynn Land who would slash benefits, raise prescription drug prices, and force seniors to pay thousands more each year,” the ad states, showing pictures of elderly people in shots with statistics from an AARP Voter’s Guide.

AARP spokesman Matt Hornbeck told BuzzFeed News, “We’d appreciate if they removed AARP from the ad.”
