Joe Biden brings help and headaches to Charlie Crist: News broke on Monday that Joe Biden will head to South Florida on Monday, Oct. 13, to campaign with Charlie Crist — and that’s a mixed bag for the once-and-would-be-future governor of Florida. With November looking like a low turnout election, Crist needs to get out the Democratic base. That won’t be an easy task. Democrats aren’t exactly enamored of Crist who has spent years campaigning as a pro-life, pro-gun, pro-God conservative Republican. There are few competitive elections at the state and congressional levels which will increase Democratic turnout. Read more

Report: Woods to open restaurant in South Florida: Tiger Woods’ latest business venture? Restaurant owner. The Palm Beach Post reported Tuesday that the former world No. 1 will open a restaurant and sports bar in his new hometown of Jupiter, Fla. According to the Post, Woods’ 5,900-square restaurant – named “The Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club” – will occupy one of the spaces in a brand-new $150 million entertainment complex at Harbourside Place. It was not immediately clear when Woods’ restaurant will be open for business, but the Post estimated a tentative early-2015 date. Read more

NRA spends nearly $500k going after Crist: After a history of supporting Charlie Crist when we was a Republican, the National Rifle Association is up with a new digital ad hammering Crist, now Democrat’s nominee for governor. When Crist served as the state’s GOP governor between 2007-2011, the NRA liked him. It gave Crist an “A” grade when he was running in 2006, and later bestowed upon him an “A+” rating. Like Crist’s political affiliation, that support has now changed. “Charlie Crist opposed your gun rights,” says the ad, which is titled “Defend Freedom, Defeat Charlie Crist.” Read more

To beat Crist, Scott’s ready to turn to Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio: As the Florida gubernatorial contest enters its final weeks, Rick Scott might have an ace up his sleeve to beat Charlie Crist in two possible presidential candidates from the Sunshine State. Most polls show the race is close though there are a few outliers. Neither candidate is remotely close to being popular and turnout is expected to be low come November. That benefits Scott since Republicans are generally better at turning out their voters in off-year elections than Democrats. Read more

Boehner: [Jeb] Bush has real shot in 2016 election: House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday the driving issue of the 2016 election will be “competence” and if Jeb Bush decides to run, “he’s got a real shot” at winning because of his record as the one-time governor of Florida. “He has a record of serious, big reforms,” Boehner, R-West Chester, said in an exclusive interview with the Enquirer… Boehner was most forthcoming when asked about Jeb Bush and the 2016 presidential race.
