Bill Maher was swiftly put in his place when he tried to mock those who found Obama’s half-hearted salute to the Marines with a cup of coffee offensive.
Describing it as “latte-gate,” Maher showed the clip and said, “If this offends you that much, you should marry your teddy bear.”
Maher’s guest, retired United States Marine Corps general and a former Commander in Chief of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Gen. Tony Zinni didn’t hesitate in his stern response.
“It offends me,” he said.
“That young Marine was showing respect to his commander in chief,” Zinni continued, “and his commander in chief did not return that respect. It may be fine in a frat house but it’s not that way in the Marine Corps.”
Foolishly, Maher tried to argue with the general, who mopped the floor with him.
