President Obama won’t be hitting the links on Saturday, but not for the reason most would like to hear.
It’s not foreign policy keeping him occupied, but instead, the wedding of his personal chef and senior policy adviser on nutrition Sam Kass to MSNBC host Alex Wagner.
Both the president and first lady will attend Kass and Wagner’s wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, N.Y., according to Politico.
Earlier this year, Vogue called Kass, “the consummate Washington insider,” and Wagner, “a rising television-news star,” the political “it-couple of the year.”
Wagner is the host of MSNBC’s “Now with Alex Wagner,” while Kass is also the executive director of the first lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative.
Tongues are wagging over the big event.
“The glamour culture in Washington loves anyone who (A) is on TV, (B) is close to the president, and (C) is attractive. They have all the elements,” The New York Times Magazine’s Mark Leibovich said, according to Vogue.
Politico reported that a White House spokesperson declined to comment. Imagine that.
