Marine savagely beaten in restaurant ‘unsafe for whites’; stepdad says media doesn’t care

After being told they were in an “unsafe” area for whites, a Marine was left in critical condition. His stepfather is now questioning the mainstream media’s silence on the alleged hate crime, the Blaze reports.

The incident happened this past weekend in West Point, Mississippi. When Ralph Weems IV and his friend, David Knighten were entering a Waffle House, a man outside the establishment warned them that it wasn’t a safe place for whites.

According to the man, it wasn’t safe because the patrons inside were distressed about Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson.

Weems ignored the warning and went in the restaurant. According to Weems’ stepfather, Barry Reynolds, Weems was mocked in the restaurant. After the argument escalated, the police were called and asked Weems and his friend to leave for their own safety, allegedly.

It was after they left the Waffle House that a group of people jumped Weems in an empty Huddle House parking lot nearby.

“He never even lit his cigarette,” Reynolds told The Blaze. “He was jumped and knocked out almost immediately. He was defenseless and they literally kicked his head in.”

Weems is currently in the hospital in critical condition, but his frustrated stepfather said some in the media keep reporting he is “in fair condition.”

Even though irrational mob-like behavior should be condemned despite the color of the attackers, Reynolds said the mainstream media conveniently dismisses black-on-white crimes.

“This story would be everywhere if you just take it and flip it 180 degrees. The same story, word for word, except change the colors around,” Reynolds said.

Only one man has been arrested in the case, Courtez McMillian.

Weems remains in a medically induced coma. Reynolds appears confident that his stepson didn’t engage in racial slurs.

“He’s a former Marine,” Reynolds told The Blaze. “If they said ‘F you,’ I really wouldn’t be surprised if he said ‘F you’ right back. But we really don’t know what was said at that point.”

Either way, the media coverage (or lack thereof) of this alleged hate crime is disappointing. If a black man was jumped by a sizable group of white men and nearly beaten to death, everyone would know about it. If it were the other way around, this story would be playing over and over on the 24-hour news cycle, but it’s not– probably to combat the idea of “white privilege.”
