Well-known black radical professor skewers ‘counterfeit’ ‘pimp’ Obama; crickets from the media

If a tea party patriot took to the website of National Review to call President Obama a “counterfeit,” a “pimp” or a “brown-faced Clinton,” Eric Holder and Harry Reid would be racing each other to MSNBC’s cameras.

But when one of the most vocal progressive “public intellectuals” in the country takes to one of the most progressive websites around to do the same thing, it’s crickets in the mainstream media.

cornelwest0826That’s exactly what Cornel West, professional agitator and Princeton professor did in a weekend interview with the lefty website Salon, slashing Obama as a fraud and a hypocrite, a rank opportunist posing as a latter day Lincoln when the people he was supposed to be representing were getting left in the dust.

“’He pimped us,’ I heard that a zillion times,” West told interviewer and fellow traveler Thomas Frank. “’He pimped us, brother West.’ That’s another way of saying ‘we got played.’”

Some days it’s tough not to like a nut like West.

The man’s crazed, of course. When Occupy Wall Street was at its inchoate height, West was the man of its hour, finally finding white people in mass numbers who are deluded as he is. He’s a longtime collaborator with Nation of Islam leader and militant anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan and thinks Israelis are war criminals for attacking terrorists. He even supported Al Sharpton’s shortlived campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2004. (With Sharpton firmly in Obama’s camp now, the two are no longer close.)

The interview has been largely ignored, with only Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz picking up on it.

But even stopped clocks have been known to be right, and when it comes to Obama, West can sound dead on. More than any other voting bloc in the country blacks got played by Obama — as they’ve been played by the Democrats for 50 years now. West is at least one who admits it publicly.

And he’ll be harder on Obama’s putative successor.

“Hillary herself is coming around the corner,” he told Frank. “It’s much worse.”

The interview is a great example of how widely the president is disliked, and not only by Republicans on the verge of taking control of the Senate in November, and with it control over Obama’s last two years in office.

It also deserves to be wider known. Even stopped clocks are right twice a day.
