Getting soaked is all the rage.
Former President George W. Bush was challenged by daughter Jenna Bush Hager and others to take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that’s sweeping the country, raising money for the treatment of Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Famously good-humored Bush declined the challenge on camera, saying it wasn’t presidential and that he would write a check instead. Seconds later, former first lady Laura Bush showed up, bucket in hand, to do the deed.
“That check is for me,” she said. “I don’t want to ruin my hairstyle.”
The challenge, started by former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, according to Fox News Insider, is to dump a bucket of ice cold water on your head and post the video on social media. If you refuse the challenge you are asked to donate to an ALS charity.
Once you have completed the act, you are supposed to nominate someone else to publicly take the challenge.
Bush chose former President Bill Clinton for the next target to get soaked. In honor of Clinton’s birthday, which was Tuesday, Bush said he’d get him a bucket of ice water.
Some would say, an appropriate gift for Mr. Clinton on any occasion.
The video was posted on Bush’s Facebook page.
