Seeking to prop up the sagging senatorial campaign of Democrat Rep. Bruce Braley, DNC pit bull Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., went on the attack Saturday at the Iowa State Fair, calling Republican nominee Joni Ernst “an onion of crazy.”
Aside from her poor use of English, the Democratic National Committee Chairwoman said with no conviction that Braley, the lawyer for trial lawyers, would make a great senator,” and that his insulting remarks about current Sen. Chuck Grassley were just a part of “the ups and downs in campaigns,” the Des Moines Register reported.
Speaking before a crowd of about 100, Wasserman Schultz said in reference to the Lieutenant Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard, “I know that this state is known for its wind energy, for corn, for soybeans, but that woman is an onion of crazy. Every time you peel back a layer, you’ll find something more disturbing about her views.”
Did not someone of noted virtue once say “Let he amongst you who is without sin cast the first stone?”
Wasserman Schultz also castigated Ernst for having suggested that President Barack Obama should be impeached, as if he, too, was a man without blemish.
“When you have a woman like Joni Ernst who has been endorsed by Sarah Palin, that should say it all,” Wasserman Schultz said.
And when you have a chairwoman who has been endorsed by the nation’s premier dingbat, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, that says a lot, too.
