Real-time responses on Twitter caused Philadelphia Daily News to rip out the photo that went with Thursday’s “Hell Breaks Loose” front page story about the events in Ferguson, Mo.
Readers were outraged by the picture’s implication that the African-American community was to blame for the violence – the police seemed to get a free pass by using the photo, according to complaints.
The power of social media proved itself yet again. The photo change was directly due to the feedback on Twitter, according to the paper’s assistant city editor David Lee Preston.
