Octogenarian comedian Joan Rivers threw political correctness out the window Wednesday when she bluntly declared Palestinians in Gaza “deserve to be dead.”
A photographer caught up with an unsympathetic Rivers outside LAX airport and prompted her to comment on the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, according to the Daily Mail.
“When you declare war, you declare war,” she said. “They started it. We now don’t count who’s dead. You’re dead. You deserve to be dead. You started it. You started it. Don’t you dare make me feel sad about that.”
Rivers, a staunch supporter of Israel, was critical of those who do not heed the warning IDF often gives before an attack.
“You were told to get out, you don’t get out, then you know you’re an idiot,” she said. “At least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQs.”
Not surprisingly, her comments rankled the left, but Rivers took to Facebook later to say some are taking what she said out of context, the Mail reported.
“I am both saddened and disappointed that my statement about the tragedy of civilian casualties was totally taken out of context,” she posted.
