Sheila Jackson Lee staffer allegedly threatens ‘right wing, tea-bagger nut job’ journalist with IRS

U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, just can’t seem to stay out of the news this week.

From suggesting that President Obama should do whatever the hell he wants in response to the border crisis, to “mis-speaking” about past efforts to impeach George W. Bush, the Democrat has maintained her penchant for saying the darndest things.

But the latest incident that thrust her into the headlines involved her staff, and may be the most egregious of all.

According to Dwayne Horner, a conservative writer for P.J. Media, he got in touch with Lee’s office Thursday seeking clarification on the lawmaker’s earlier statement that Democrats did not attempt to impeach Bush — despite her having co-sponsored a bill in 2008 to do just that.

After speaking to a young woman, Horner said he was transferred to a male member of Lee’s staff, who allegedly trampled all lines of professional conduct expected from the office of a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Horner explained what allegedly took place:

I was transferred to a gentleman on Lee’s staff. When I again asked him about the contradiction and stated that perhaps I was confused, the man said “Oh look it here, we have one of those right wing, tea-bagger nut jobs on the phone taking his cues from FOX News.”

He then accused me of being un-American, raising his voice at me while asking me to calm down, and telling me that I am just on some mission to destroy our country. When I calmly asked for his name, he said “I don’t have to give it to you because I don’t want to show up on some right wing blog and be on your Twitter account.” Keep in mind, I never said who I was – he just made assumptions and attacked me. When I reminded him that he gets paid by our tax dollars, he said “I doubt you even pay taxes and the IRS will find you soon enough,” and hung up on me.

Appalled by what had just happened, Horner called back and asked to speak with Lee’s chief of staff.

“This is the chief counsel, you have 15 seconds,” a man said upon coming on the line, according to Horner.

“Really?” he replied

“Fourteen seconds now.”

Horner asked the gentleman to identify himself, but instead of getting a name he got another second counted off, and each subsequent question resulted in the loss of another second until the “15 seconds” were up and the man hung up.

According to “The Daily Caller,” Lee may be the worst boss in Washington, and she has gone through at least 11 chiefs of staff since 2000, so it’s possible that most are not around long enough to be schooled in telephone etiquette.

Either way, this is your tax dollars at work — like it or not.
