Video: How these cops just became Internet heroes

Police in a Kansas City are Internet heroes after taking time out of their day to play a game of basketball with neighborhood kids on a makeshift street court .

Samuel Lockridge captured Wednesday’s game on camera, according to KMBC-TV and it has since been shared all over social media.

“It was very special. That’s why I felt like it was important and I felt obligated to record it,” he said. “Ain’t seen too many police officers do this.”

The officers didn’t expect any attention to come from the game and said they were just doing their job.

“We’re doing it for the kids. We love the kids out here. We try to do our best interacting with the kids,” Kansas City Police Officer Todd Templeton told KMBC. “They see enough of the bad stuff that goes in the neighborhoods just like we do, and we need to get their mind off of that.”
