The way things have been going for President Barack Obama, this was inevitable.
It’s likely we’ve all seen the video of an Obama supporter overcome with euphoria after attending a campaign event just prior to the 2008 election.
“I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car, I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage!” the woman cried. “If I help him, he’s going to help me!”
Well, six years later, filmmaker Joel Gilbert tracked down the woman, Peggy Joseph, who has had a complete change of heart.
“He lied about everything,” she said of now President Obama.
Gilbert asked Joseph if Obama helped pay the expenses she spoke of in the video clip.
“Absolutely not,” she replied. “Mortgage got worse and gas prices got higher.”
“During that time, we needed a change but not change for the worse,” Joseph explained. “He had a very big voice, just like the Wizard of Oz; the wizard was this little teeny, teeny tiny man and I think that is the same thing with Obama.”
“Not who we thought, or expected him to be,” she concluded.
The filmmaker was surprised to learn that Joseph, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, is “a suburban soccer mom with four children, who earned her living as a hard-working nurse.”
And she has never accepted any form of government assistance.
Gilbert’s new full-length documentary film, “There’s No Place Like Utopia,” is scheduled to premiere Friday in Denver.
