Big-hearted Hillary says she donated college speaking fees — to her own foundation!

Hillary Clinton keeps digging herself in further.

hillaryclinton0706The former first lady, former senator from New York, and once-and-likely-future presidential contender, tried to convince an ABC interviewer – and the American public – that there’s nothing at all untoward about the six-figure speaking fees she’s accepted from colleges and universities over the past 18 months.

It was all donated to charity, Hillary Clinton explained – a charity called the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, as a matter of fact.

“All of the fees have been donated to the Clinton Foundation for it to continue its life-changing and life-saving work. So it goes from a foundation at a university to another foundation,” Clinton said.

How could anybody have a problem with that?

What’s interesting is that Clinton’s followers at least might see the arrangement as perfectly fine. To a progressive liberal who believes in redistributing wealth – like the man in the White House – it makes perfect sense for one non-profit foundation to give up a quarter-million dollars to another non-profit foundation.

They’re both doing “life-changing and life-saving” work, right? Who actually gets their hands on the cash is an administrative detail to liberals.

The people who actually cough up the money – taxpayers when it’s the government, the tuition-paying students at those universities Clinton thinks of as “foundations” – look at it a little differently.

That’s why students at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas are demanding Clinton give back $225,000 she is being paid to speak at a fundraiser there.

They understand very well that who actually handles the cash matters.

Hillary, however, pretends she doesn’t.

“It’s been my experience,” Clinton said, “That they’re not worried about my speaking [fees] or my household [income], they’re worried about their own. And that’s the kind of debate I think I’m furthering as I go around the country speaking.”

Actually, it’s the hole she just keeps on digging.
