“The Star-Spangled Banner” will get a makeover to celebrate its 200th anniversary.
The “Capitol Fourth” celebration in Washington DC will feature the national anthem – which is traditionally performed by a soloist – in a new arrangement, composed with choirs, trumpets, an orchestra and cannons, according to the Associated Press.
During the annual event held at the National Mall, American composer and conductor John Williams will lead the National Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the Joint Armed Forces Chorus and the Choral Arts Society of Washington in the updated version of the Francis Scott Key song, AP reported.
“A Capitol Fourth” will be broadcast Friday at 8 p.m. on PBS and NPR.
