The woman seen savagely beating a young mother in front of her small child, in a video that went viral last week, turned herself in Monday night to local law enforcement.
Latia Harris, 25, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered to the Salem Police Department, according to MyFoxNY.com.
The New Jersey woman attacked 27-year-old Catherine Ferreira as several people stood by recording the assault. Ferreira’s two year old son was the only one who tried to intervene, kicking Harris as she beat his mother.
“You better get your son before I kick him in the f—ing face, too,” Harris appeared to say in the video.
According to Ferreira, she was accused by Harris of spreading rumors about her and a manager — they all work at a local McDonalds.
“We were looking for Ms. Harris over the weekend. I think they were getting really close,” said Salem Police Chief John Pelura. “I think she had no other option than to turn herself in.”
MyFoxNY.com reported that Smith was charged with aggravated assault and two counts of making terroristic threats, with bail set at $35,000.
