With no phone, 10-year-old girl saves dad’s life by posting frantic rescue plea on Facebook

A rare positive story about social media captured the drama of a 10-year-old girl’s desperate act that may have saved her father’s life.

A severe storm roared through West Virginia last week and knocked over a massive tree, seriously injuring Gregory Vance. Vance and two friends were sitting on the front porch when the tree came crashing down, trapping all three men, according to Fox News.

Vance’s daughter Brianna, inside the house, became frantic since her family didn’t have a landline and the storm knocked out cell phone service.

The quick-thinking girl posted a video plea for help on Facebook.

“The lightning crashed and hit a tree by our porch and my dad’s almost dead,” she cried. “He needs an ambulance, please. Please call one for us if you have signal.”

Someone picked up the girl’s frightened plea and called local firefighters. When the men were rescued, Vance’s injuries included a broken back, ribs and shoulder.

That’s what “friends” are for, right?
