Video: Tragedy strikes South Dakota: Bud Light truck overturns

A truck carrying some seriously precious cargo toppled over Wednesday morning in South Dakota. The semitruck, carrying Bud Light, tipped over onto the median of I-29 after its driver fell asleep at the wheel and overcorrected the truck.

Beer spilled out from the roof of the trailer, which had split open. Cans of beer covered the grassy area.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt and was treated for injuries deemed non-life threatening.

Looks like a Crete truck…. Running 62 mph all day long, day after day, is BORING — I know! (I used to work for their sister company running flatbeds. Those of you who know trucking know the company — I won’t post it here.)

Crete runs electronic logs — just goes to show that elogs don’t stop us from falling asleep at the wheel — rather, it’s more likely to cause it, because we try to cram everything into our allotted hours. I now run paper logs; if I need a break, I can stop for a bit, and rework the logs to let me continue to run if necessary — and do it SAFELY and WELL RESTED.
