Data released by the Federal Elections Commission revealed that Rep. Eric Cantor spent more money at D.C.’s posh Bobby Van’s Grill and Steakhouse than underdog opponent Dave Brat’s campaign spent entirely.
Breitbart reported that the House Majority Leader ran up a tab of $124,177 hosting fundraisers for himself and other GOP candidates at the powerhouse restaurant, as compared to the George Mason University professor’s total outlay of $122,793.
While the upset victory has provided plenty of red meat for pundits across the country, in fairness it should be said that one of the functions of the House Majority Leader is to raise money for Republican colleagues and that donors expect to be treated to five-star service, professional fundraiser Michael Fraioli told Politico.
