WH renews vows to act without Congress on guns as Obama praises Australia for confiscation

President Obama hasn’t been shy about using executive orders to get his way since Republicans took over the House in 2010, and now he might be putting gun rights in his sights.

Questioned at a news conference Tuesday about the shooting of a teenager at an Oregon high school, Deputy White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Obama’s “goal is to look for opportunities to act administratively, unilaterally using his executive authority to try to make our communities safer.”

“But none of those opportunities when they present themselves is going to be an acceptable substitute for robust legislative action,” he said, according to the Blaze.

There’s not going to be any legislative action restricting Second Amendments rights any time soon – robust or otherwise.

Obama admitted as much during a Q & A session with Tumblr founder David Karp at the White House. Other countries that don’t have constitutional freedoms to firearms have already cracked down in ways that ouldn’t be imagined here.

“Australia had a mass shooting, similar to Columbine or Newtown. And Australia just said, well, that’s it, we’re not doing, we’re not seeing that again, and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since,” Obama said.

“Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no advanced, developed country that would put up with this.”

Being a big-D Democrat, he blamed it all on small-D democracy. (True-blue Dems really don’t really like democracy much; the party’s name’s just part of the lib penchant for distortion.)

“Most members of Congress, and to some degree this is bipartisan, are terrified of the NRA,” Obama said yesterday at the White House. “The NRA and gun manufacturers are very well financed and have the capacity to move votes in local elections and congressional elections.”

Moving votes in local and congressional elections. Imagine the nerve of the bastards.

Fortunately for the gun-grabbers, Earnest said Obama won’t be deterred by things like “votes.”

“But that’s not going to stop the president from continuing to push for administrative steps that we can take to help reduce gun violence,” Earnest said.

The message to gun owners: Keep you powder dry.
