Not all schools were closed on Memorial Day. Some in Texas, North Carolina and Kentucky were in session to make up missed days from winter’s bad weather.
Several schools took the opportunity to bring in veterans on Monday to speak, and teach the children the meaning of Memorial Day. While most students attended, there were parents who chose to keep their kids home, according to KHOU in Texas.
As you may have guessed, many students used Twitter as a sounding board, with these tweets compiled by Twitchy:
Having a dad that was in the service I find it pretty damn disrespectful that we have school on Memorial Day.

I guess buncombe county thinks school is more important than memorial day. If it wasn’t for our soldiers we wouldn’t be free and able to go.
