Once first lady Michelle Obama tweeted a photo of herself holding a sign with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, calling for a return of the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls, the hip and elite could not fall in line quick enough.
One after another, celebrities and other prominent figures mimicked Obama’s behavior, but one jet-setter exposed more than an overriding ambition to get in on the latest trend.

Supermodel Irina Shayk posted an image of herself topless on Instagram, with the relevant sign covering her exposed breasts — an move that prompted more backlash than she may have anticipated.
A number of Instagram users felt compelled to express their thoughts on the photo.
“This is disgusting,” one user wrote. “You as a ‘celebrity’ should be a better role model to the younger generation. Think before you act.”
“She tried but failed miserably,” another offered. “[S]hows you how little these celebs really care, it’s more of a photo opportunity for her while pretending to care?”
As for Shayk, the criticism didn’t seem to penetrate her elitist world. The model posted an image of what appeared to be a tiger skin on Instagram the next day, with the caption: “A tiger doesn’t lose sleep over the opinion of a sheep.”
