Michelle Obama tweeted what appeared to be a somber photo Wednesday to show solidarity with the families of kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls, but judging by the Twitter responses, many weren’t buying it.
The White House announced Tuesday that it was sending a team to Nigeria to help find nearly 300 schoolgirls reportedly abducted by the radical Islamist group Boko Harem, according to CNN.
In a Wednesday tweet following the announcement, the first lady held a sign that said, “#Bring Back Our Girls”:

Responses were swift and critical, according to Twitchy’s compilation of tweets, which included:

Last month, many Twitter users ridiculed the Obama administration for ushering in the “hashtag doctrine” to scold Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine. Those tweets drew a similar backlash.
