An Arizona convenience store owner known as a soft touch for those in need showed a would-be thief his harder side last week – and the whole thing was caught on video.
According to KVOA, the NBC affiliate in Tucscon, Maen Mdanat, the owner of Axis Food Mart, has been a fixture in the neighborhood in the five years he’s owned the store, letting customers slide when they were a few cents short on their order and cultivating a relationship with the organizer of a local effort to collect food for the needy.
But that doesn’t mean he’s a softie. And a man who tried to rob his store in the early hours of April 30 found that out. He also found out Mdanat has had some Army special forces training.
We’ll let KVOA reporter Rebecca Taylor tell you the rest. And why the locals sometimes think of Mdanat as a superhero they call “Conenience Store Man.”
Check out the story here. If you haven’t smiled yet today, you will now.
