‘Revenge of the Nerds’ anti-bullying ad hilarious to some; offensive to others

bulliesVH1 released an anti-bullying video that is raising eyebrows.

“Revenge of the Nerds” serves as the theme of the ad, where bully victims sing along to Gloria Gaynor’s hit “I Will Survive” about how they’ll exact revenge against those seen tormenting them in the video.

The ad has a simple message: The nerds being bullied today are likely to end up being bosses tomorrow.

“My power, I will abuse,” a nerd sings. “I’ll be the CEO, you’ll be the one who shines my shoes.

“You’ll never get a single raise,” another sings. “You’ll get the same pay until the end of your unhappy days. And behind a tiny desk you’ll be saying your regret.”

Titled “I Will Survive,” the ad is a humorous take on denouncing bullying, but some critics say it makes light of a serious matter.

Either way, it has been a success at drawing attention to the issue.
