Calif. lawmakers vote to put racial filter over history of Obama’s presidency

California lawmakers are already laying the foundation for how Barack Obama’s presidency will be taught in schools.

And the most important thing about it will be Obama’s skin color.

Under a bill approved unanimously by the California State Assembly, Obama’s tenure will focus strictly on the racial significance of the so-called “post-racial president” – laughably including how “in honor of his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples, President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”

(Show of hands, how many people even remembered that Nobel Prize without being reminded of it?)

According to the Associated Press, the bill sponsored by Assemblyman Chris Holden, D-Pasadena, now goes to the California Senate. Since it passed without any debate or discussion in the assembly, maybe it will get a little closer look there.

‘It’s us against the world!’: NRA introduces most intense ad yet

The AP story notes that all recent presidents are included in school curricula – since they’re part of history, it would be odd if they weren’t. But Holden’s bill requires Obama’s history to be taught through a racial screen.

How about teaching it as an assault on religious liberty through Obamacare mandates on the Little Sisters of the Poor? Or teaching it as an abdication of American influence abroad, the world’s most power  nation opted to “lead from behind?” Or how about teaching it as five years (so far) of unrelenting expansion of the state’s administrative powers and their use — through groups like the IRS — to chill the president’s domestic political enemies?

Viewing the most radically progressive leader in the country’s history solely through a feel-good lens of racial relations is a disservice to students and a crime to history itself.

How did Californians like the assembly’s vote? Here’s a sample from Twitter.

Comments on the AP story were equally angry. This one sums it up pretty well.

Yes, we need to indoctrinate the young into the wonders of Dear Leader and how he overcame opposition for all the racist white majority to attain his glorious position. Pure propaganda! Of course children in high school social studies will talk about current events which would include Obama but why do we have to ram down their throats ‘racial significance’? Why not teach children the Constitution instead. My poor California- God help us!

And not just California.
