Here’s a tax day message for ya’! “The IRS is getting whacked by the RNC,” according to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.
The dispute is centered on a request for documents the GOP had made to the agency almost a year ago but never received, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told Van Susteren.
The government has 20 days to comply with such requests, but instead of getting the documents they asked for, they keep asking for extensions.
“We’re done playing footsie here with the IRS,” he said.
The Republicans are asking for documents related to former IRS supervisor Lois Lerner, emails between the White House and the IRS as well as emails between the IRS offices in Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati.
I can see what the problem is. Had the GOP asked for Mitt Romney’s tax returns, the IRS would have complied immediately.
