Smart chimps put zoo on lockdown during brazen escape attempt

Apparently Tarzan’s Cheeta has no monopoly on ingenuity. Seven chimpanzees in the Kansas City Zoo utilized a large broken tree branch on Thursday as a ladder, to scamper their way to freedom, out of their sizable enclosure. The Kansas City Star reported that no one was injured and that no one panicked.

Like their closest DNA relatives, the chimps were quickly recaptured by the presentation of a savory meal, augmented by the aroma of chocolate malted milk balls.

Zookeepers speculated that since their hirsute friends are a highly cohesive, gregarious and intelligent lot, they were probably headed east for Washington, to upgrade the shoddy and inhospitable jungle that stagnates there.
