Actress makes a stand on ‘Dancing With the Stars’; refuses to compromise Christian faith

Candace Cameron BureFormer “Full House” star Candace Cameron-Bure is a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars.” She is also a devout Christian committed to being true to her religious beliefs.

“I’m a Christian,” she said in a pre-recorded profile shown on Monday’s show. “My life revolves around my relationship with Jesus Christ. So with the overall tone of the dance and the costumes I’m not going to take a backseat. My voice will definitely be heard.”

And with that comment, Cameron-Bure nixed an idea put forth by her dance partner Mark Ballas that he go shirtless in their upcoming performance.

“You don’t have my permission,” she said. “No, I have to think about that.”

As seen in the video below, the duo performed in what would be considered very conservative dress by today’s standard, proving that you can express yourself without undressing.

After their performance Monday, Erin Andrews, the program’s co-host, asked Cameron-Bure how she balanced her religious beliefs with the choice of a sexy dance like the rumba.

“I want to reserve certain things for my husband so I think that we did the best that we could with the rumba that I still felt comfortable doing,” she responded.

While the judges were less than impressed, the crowd ate it up.
