Obamacare enrollment’s desperate measures – even ESPN radio isn’t safe

With Obamacare enrollment numbers continuing to lag among young adults, President Barack Obama works harder and harder to reach the “knuckleheads.”

This effort included a spot Thursday on Colin Cowherd‘s ESPN Radio show, with the sports theme coming in handy in light of the softball questions lobbed his way, Newsbusters reported.

Cowherd noted that Obama has been “more accessible than other presidents,” and pointed to some unusual appearances he has made to entice young folks to sign up for his signature healthcare law.

The host then laid a big fat one right across the plate.

“One network suggested Lincoln wouldn’t do this,” he began. “It’s obviously a different time, but you embrace young and different. Why?”

The question referenced a remark by Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, who was critical of the president’s appearance on the comedy series “Between Two Ferns,” saying it was demeaning.

“One of the hardest things about being president is being in this bubble that is artificial, and unless you make a conscious effort, you start sounding like some Washington stiff,” Obama responded.

Having sufficiently proven that he’s just a regular guy like the rest of us, Obama then reminded everyone of the looming Obamacare sign-up deadline.

“The main reason we’re doing it is because I am pushing very hard for folks who may not be paying attention to day-to-day politics that they’ve got until March 31st to sign up for health care if they don’t already have it,” Obama added.

With only about 25 percent of those who’ve signed up for healthcare coverage falling into the 18 to 35 demographic, compared to original projections of 38.5 percent, Obama can’t afford to stray off topic for very long, even when gifted with the opportunity to knock a few out of the ballpark.
