Texas 7th grade teacher Garrett Hartman got what he called “an instant impact, goose bump moment” Friday when the students at his Houston-area middle school recited the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence.
As his class went through their morning ritual, he happened to glance outside the window and saw an amazing sight, according to Click2Houston.com.
A school groundskeeper set his tools down, removed his cap and and with hand over heart recited the pledge along with the students. When the time for the moment of silence came, he bowed his head and clasped his hands behind his back.
After Hartman took a photo to remember the event, he and another teacher went down to meet the man, Clayton Allen, Jr., who is a graduate of the same school. Allen said he does it every day because he feels blessed.
“I’m still thankful, you know, for the day and the country that I’m in,” he told Click2Houston.
