A new campaign to ban the word “bossy” is designed to empower young women to be ambitious, but ironically is being spearheaded by women who are considered some of the bossiest.
The effort is sponsored by Lean In and the Girl Scouts, and says on the “Ban Bossy” website:
“When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a ‘leader.’ Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded ‘bossy.’ Words like bossy send a message: don’t raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys — a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead.”
Joining the social media campaign, Democratic National Committee chair and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. tweeted:
I pledge to #banbossy – let’s raise our girls to value leadership skills and assertiveness! http://t.co/Wyy7XOOPKy

Then there’s the first lady who wants to tell you how to eat:

But the campaign is not without critics, who tweeted this:
mmmm I’ve been called bossy for ever. Always thought it was a compliment. Apparently it’s not??? #banbossy

The same lefties that stand by & say nothing when liberals attack & harass conservative women now want to #BanBossy.

Surprisingly, Condoleezza Rice participated in the campaign video. Where were her “ban bossy” cohorts last week when Rutgers University faculty protested the invitation for her to deliver its commencement address?
No word on when the campaign is going to ask others to stop calling former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley names.
