A CNN panel discussion on the Michael Dunn “thug music” murder trial took on a revolutionary flare Monday night when HLN host Nancy Grace turned her fire on the insufferable CNN personality Piers Morgan.
Morgan invited the tirade when he blamed the deaths of Trayvon Martin, the teenager shot to death while attacking neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla., in 2012 and Jordan Davis, a teenager shot during a confrontation at a Jacksonville, Fla., convenience store in with Dunn in November 2012 on American attitudes toward guns in general.
Dunn was convicted of three counts of attempted murder and one count of firing into a vehicle, but the jury could not reach a verdict on the most serious charge of first degree murder in Davis’s killing.
“Here are my problems with this,” Morgan said. “If Dunn and Zimmerman had not been carrying guns, then these two young boys who were unarmed as it turned out, regardless of any fear that may be felt by the people shooting the guns, they would be alive, right? So there’s a gun accessibility of people …”
“Oh, are you back on gun control again? If it weren’t for the British, we wouldn’t even have to have protections to carry guns. It was the British, way back when we founded America – they were running through all of our homes trying to take our stuff. So we’re protected under the Constitution. So, it’s not really right for a Brit to jump up and start talking to us about gun control.”
Check out the exchange here. And be glad the right side won back in 1783. Otherwise we’d all have Morgan’s attitude — and his accent.
