After Team USA’s 3-2 victory Saturday over Russia’s highly-rated hockey team, America has a new hero on the ice in the form of the St. Louis forward, T.J. Oshie — only don’t call him that. That’s something he reserves for true heroes.
“T.J. Oshie scored four times in the shootout and got the winner in the eighth round, leading the United States past Russia 3-2 Saturday in the thrilling revival of an Olympic hockey rivalry,” reported the Associated Press.
The accolades coming Oshie’s way were all well and good, but when people started calling him a hero, the 27-year-old hockey player had to put his foot down.
TJ Oshie (@OSH74) when called a hero after the game: “No. The real heroes wear camo. I’m not one of them.”

Just had good talk with America’s newest hero. Only don’t call T.J. Oshie that. “The American heroes are wearing camo. That’s not me.” #USA

Not everyone was thrilled with the outcome. Russian analyst Kevin Rothrocxk tweeted this photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin during the game.
