Jon Stewart delivered a comedic rant Wednesday night bashing Nancy Pelosi and Democrats for calling Republicans corrupt after the country just witnessed the embarrassing testimony of President Obama’s unqualified, yet big bundler bunch of new ambassador nominees admit they have never visited the countries they were nominated for.
After playing a segment where he mocked Nancy Pelosi for recently telling him that if there is financial corruption in Washington, it comes from Republicans, Stewart aired clips of what he called the “Diplomat Buyers Club” – Obama’s picks for Argentina, Iceland and Norway – testifying that they have never been to the countries.
However, Stewart noted, all three men had raised significant money for Obama during the president’s reelection campaigns.
Stewart went off:
Let me ask this, have any of you f*cking people been to EPCOT Center? Have you been anywhere?
Is there a rule ambassadors can’t have set foot in the countries they are going to ambassador?
I mean, it definitely couldn’t be because the new Norway nominee raised $850,000 for Obama’s reelection campaign, or the Argentinean one raised $500,000, or the Icelandic one bundled $1.6 million because that would mean not only would Democrats be seen as corrupt, Nancy Pelosi told me personally that only Republicans are.
With the recent announcement that U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, was stepping down, Stewart suggested the Democrats and Obama could prove the process of choosing ambassadors isn’t corrupt: “Why can’t it be about picking someone we aren’t that crazy about and sending him away?”
And with that, Stewart showed a picture of Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“He said he wanted to leave anyway.”
