Near has-been newsman Geraldo Rivera is catching a blast of Twitter outrage for suggesting it’s time to move on from the Benghazi terror attack of 2012.
The man best known these days as a selfie-star used a report released Tuesday by congressional investigators that found no “stand down” order that forbade an attempt to save the lives of Americans in the mission when it was attacked by terrorists on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 to make the case that the case is closed.
And he claimed he was trying to spare the families of those murdered men further suffering.
GOP investigators make clear there was No Stand Down in Benghazi & No military response possible to save our people! Stop torturing families
— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) February 13, 2014
The response was immediate and angry.
Much as Geraldo and the rest of the media sycophants might wish it otherwise, there’s no getting around the fact that four Americans died in an American diplomatic compound in one of the world’s most dangerous countries, on a date that even a school child would know would be a time of heightened danger for terrorist attacks.
Here are some samples, thanks to Twitchy.com.
Some poured scorn on Geraldo’s logic ….
@GeraldoRivera That’s stupidity. There was no effort to even try. U missed point. http://t.co/rvqydww3Wu

Others said the response to the attack wasn’t as important as how defenseless the diplomats were in the first place.
@GeraldoRivera You must be kidding, They were turned down to even get the security they started with in Benghazi!!

@GeraldoRivera I am retired 30 year vet. Not having response ready is biggest sin. ALL planners should be fired.

@GeraldoRivera Because assets weren’t pre-postioned like they should have been. No security before the attack – lies after the attack.
— Reagan Lieutenant (@ReganLieutenant) February 13, 2014
Others pointed out the president of the United States apparently had more pressing things do at the time — like rest up for a fundraising swing to Las Vegas.
@GeraldoRivera but where was Obama? Romantic evening with Beyonce while our heroes fought for hours? Why can’t he say where he was?#Benghazi — RON COULTER (@RONCOULTER) February 13, 2014
And the clincher is, as always, the reminder that when four dead Americans came home in coffins, their flag-covered coffins were greeted by two people with a cover story of their own.
@GeraldoRivera Why did Hillary and Obama stand before their coffins and lie about a “random attack due to a video”? #BenghaziCoverUp — Pam C. (@Pameladi1113) February 13, 2014
That’s a question Geraldo can’t answer. But yes, Madame Former Secretary, after all this time, it still makes a difference.
@GeraldoRivera The families are tortured by this lying Adm &YOU know it!! They want answers, not LIES abt a damn #video! Screw u, Geraldo!!
