This patriotic gesture guaranteed to give you goosebumps

Just when you’re ready to condemn many of today’s youth as being self-centered, unpatriotic whiners, they come up with something to blow all those preconceived notions into oblivion…

…something like bringing 600 voices together to sing the national anthem.

Each year, the finest high school singers in the Bluegrass State are invited to join the All State Choir and participate in the Kentucky Music Educators Association In-Service Conference, according to Fox-8 Cleveland.

This year’s conference is being held Feb. 5-8 at its usual venue, the Hyatt Regency in Louisville.

Leno takes last shot at president in final monologue; Obama responds

One conference tradition has all 600 students gathering in the interior balconies of the 18-story hotel to sing “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The tradition has been keep alive for at least the last 26 years, John Stroube, the Music Educators Association’s executive director, told Fox-8.

The truly amazing thing is that the performances are unrehearsed and undirected. No melody-harmony parts are assigned, and no one is chosen to lead the other singers — it just happens.

It’s enough to boost your spirits and restore your faith in humanity.
