NFL players step out to say ‘Jesus is better than the Super Bowl’

russell wilsonNFL championship football takes center stage Sunday in America, with the day’s winners advancing to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Sunday’s games will feature the New England Patriots taking on the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers visiting the Seattle Seahawks.

While the games are sure to have wide appeal, what’s not likely to draw nearly as much attention is the participation of four players and a coach from one of these teams in a taped discussion, “Who is Jesus?”

Rush Limbaugh’s gatekeeper, ‘Snerdley,’ opens up

Seahawks’ star quarterback Russell Wilson, offensive tackle Russell Okung, safety Chris Maragos, long snapper Clint Gresham and defensive coach Rocky Seto sat down with pastor Mark Driscoll at the Mars Hill Church in Seattle to talk about the Son of God.

CNS News captured a portion of the incredibly inspirational discussion that falls outside the lines of the narrative we often hear about NFL players:

“It’s no question [Jesus] gave us everything,” Seto says during the group interview.

“Literally, one plus one equals two, it’s just that simple. Jesus is better than anything we could ever hope for, even better than the Super Bowl, better than an NFL career.”

Seto continued, “I think some us here – all of us here would like to say – you know, who knows what’s going to happen. But if we were ever to win the Super Bowl, to be able to tell everyone that, ‘No, Jesus is still better’”.

“Because as much as we worship this thing called a ring and championship, although we would like to have one for sure, I just can’t wait to tell people if that happens God willing, we will be able to tell people Jesus is way better still.”

Prepare to be inspired.
