She didn’t mean it the way it sounded.
The Obama-backing Madonna stirred up a storm of cyber criticism when she used the n-word to refer to her son, Rocco, in an Instagram posted Friday.
Rush Limbaugh’s gatekeeper, ‘Snerdley,’ opens up
The post included a picture of the 13-year-old boxing and the caption “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock out,” followed by the hashtag #disn*****. After followers complained, Madonna deleted the offending word, but posted a defiant new comment, with an equally disturbing hashtag.
“Ok let me start this again #getoffmyd***haters,” she wrote.
That must not have gone down so well – either that or Madonna genuinely had a change of heart. On Saturday, she posted a non-defiant message on Facebook, apologizing to anyone who might have been offended and calling what is arguably the vilest racial slur in the English language a “term of endearment.”
“I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression.”
Well, sure.
It gave only people the impression that a woman who’s been on the world stage for three decades, who emblazoned the word “OBAMA” in capital letters on her lower back for her audience’s prurient enjoyment during a concert tour in the fall of 2012 and promised to strip naked in public (again) if the first black commander-in-chief was re-elected, was taken by surprised by a negative reaction to the revelation she routinely uses the n-word as a “term of endearment” when there aren’t any black people around.
It also gave the impression that the libs who routinely accuse conservatives of racism for opposing a president who’s done no good for black economic prospects in the United States since 2009 – or anyone else’s — are the rank hypocrites conservatives have always known them to be.
Mitt Romney’s son, Ben, adopts a black child and liberals call the baby a token. Madonna, who has adopted two black children from Malawi, calls one of her white children “n*****” as a term of endearment.
“It was not meant as a racial slur,” Madonna wrote on Facebook.
It just sounded like one.
