One Obama disciple facing a tough reelection this November has run like hell from all-things Obama, not even attending an event with the president in her own state, actually, not even going home to her state when he is scheduled to visit.

During a slightly comical exchange with a crotchety Jay Carney at Tuesday’s press briefing, CNN reporter Brianna Keilar said Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan’s “excuse” for missing the president’s visit to North Carolina State University-Raleigh Wednesday was the “the Congressional equivalent of, ‘I can’t go, I’m washing my hair.’”

Carney bristled at the suggestion, parroting Hagan’s spokesperson who said earlier the senator had pressing business in the Senate and would not attend the president’s speech.

Keilar wouldn’t let up on Carney, who rambled on about how important Hagan’s work in senate is, and she nailed him when she asked: “My question is just, does the president worry that he is a drag at this point, in a time where he needs to maintain the Senate so that he can push his agenda?”

“All I can tell you is the president is traveling to North Carolina tomorrow,” Carney retorted.
