Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson, wife speak about controversy on Fox News

willie_korieFor the first time, “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson and wife Korie Robertson touched on the controversy resulting from remarks made about homosexuality by their family’s patriarch, Phil Robertson.

Ever so briefly.

During an interview Tuesday night on Fox News’ “All-American New Year” special, hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Hemmer asked the younger Robertson for his thoughts “about A&E’s decision regarding your father.”

As widely reported, Phil Robertson was placed on “indefinite hiatus” by the network after sharing his views on homosexuality in an interview with GQ, a status that was lifted within two weeks.

Appearing live via satellite from Steamboat Springs, Colo., the son simply replied, “We’re just glad to be back to work.”

Which was a good indication that the public relations department at A&E was up to the task this time.

“A&E and us are fine,” he added. “The Robertsons, we’re looking forward to getting back to making some funny shows, and it’s a new year. So we’re ready to break in a new year and start it all over again.”

The interview quickly moved on to more appropriate business, after all, it was News Years Eve.

“Who breaks their [New Year’s] resolution first?” Hasselbeck asked.

Robertson said he’s “not a big resolutions guy,” and Korie added that it’s hard to break a resolution if you don’t make one.
