The lesbian waitress who attracted tons of attention and thousands of dollars after claiming she was stiffed for a tip by a gay-hating family is a compulsive liar with a history of coming up with unbelievable stories, former friends tell reporters.
Dayna Morales, a 22-year-old waitress in at the Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, N.J., once told friends she’d been raped by her father, gotten pregnant, then contracted cervical cancer that killed the baby, friends told the Daily Caller.
She later admitted the story wasn’t true.
Morales also claimed to have served with the Marines in Afghanistan, where she was blown up by a land mine that killed the rest of her platoon.
Marine Corps records indicate she apparently spent most of her overseas service in Romania, according to the Journal News of White Plains, N.Y.
Morales also told friends that when Superstorm Sandy struck the New Jersey Coast, a boat ended up in her living room in coastal Stony Point, N.J. Friends who visited found some carpet damage by the front door – but no boat.
“Every story she comes up with has a lie,” an acquaintance told the Journal News.
The openly gay Morales became a cause celebre among gay activists and their gullible media allies who were only too happy to eat up her story about how a family of four stiffed her for a tip in mid-November, allegedly leaving a note saying they disapproved of her lifestyle.
Her story drew attention after she posted about the note on Facebook and emailed a gay rights group called “Have a Gay Day,” according to the Daily Caller.
A media circus ensued and sympathetic donations poured in, which Morales has said she will donate to the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists wounded veterans.
But the story drew questions when a New Jersey couple came forward Monday to say they were the ones Morales had served that night and produced paperwork to prove it. They also had left a $20 tip, and no anti-gay note.
The ex-friend who told the Daily Caller about Morales’ father-rape, cervical-cancer, miscarriage saga told the site she texted Morales after the original story got out and accused her of making it up.
According to the Daily Caller, Morales responded in an error-riddled message insisting that this time she’s really telling the truth:
“Think what you want but it really did happened and yes I’ve filed up in the past and yes I e learned from y mistakes and karma has come back to me but you’re entitled to your opinion. Have a gay day.”
