Former Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson has joined the Fox News network as a contributor, making his debut Wednesday on Megyn Kelly’s new show, “The Kelly File.”
“Dr. Carson is a brilliant neurosurgeon who has dedicated his life to healing others,” Roger Ailes, chairman and CEO of Fox News, said in a statement, according to The Daily Caller. “He also has a broad perspective on what’s going on in the country and his wisdom and provocative viewpoints will make a major contribution to our network.”
Carson gained national attention after delivering a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in February criticizing Obamacare and deficit spending, with President Obama, seated less than 10 feet away.
Carson revealed last week that he became a target of the Internal Revenue Service shortly after delivering that speech.
In the segment with Kelly, Carson condemned a Democratic lawmaker who mocked questions posed by Republican lawmakers at a hearing about the IRS’ recent practice of targeting conservatives.
