After a weekend of public pressure and public outcry, the U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly bringing its AMBER Alert website back online sometime on Monday.
For the first full-week of the shutdown, the government took down its AMBER Alert website for lack of funding, but Michelle Obama’s “drink water, eat vegetables” Let’sMove.gov website remained up and running.
According to Twitchy, the following is what was posted on the AMBERAlert.gov website when it was offline:
But Michelle Obama’s Let’sMove.gov site remained operational:
And conservatives spent the weekend fuming online:
Michelle Obama’s “drink water” site is up. Amber Alert’s is down. What fresh hell is this?

Now, the Guardian reported the DOJ is bringing the AMBER Alert site back online.
It’s important to note that the actual AMBER Alert program was never interrupted, only the website was shutdown. However, the website offered information on missing children that many Americans used to stay updated.
Some of the tweets over the weekend were published by Twitchy:
No, seriously, the petty bastards in the Obama Administration turned off the Amber Alert website http://t.co/CIzOSVkNv2

By all means, let’s turn over healthcare decision making to people willing to shut down the Amber Alert website out of spite.
