An Idaho Congressman gave NBC’s “Meet the Press” host David Gregory both an education and an earful on the true meaning of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I had a Dream” speech Sunday.
U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, appeared on the show after the Sunday panel discussed Saturday’s 50th anniversary commemoration of the celebrated speech, and he felt that Gregory and his liberal panelists got it all wrong.
“It saddens me actually to hear some of the things that I’m hearing here, because I think the American dream is alive…What I’ve been hearing from your panelists is not a message of hope. It’s a message of despair.”
Gregory attempted to interrupt several times during the lecture, but Labrador plowed on ahead until he got his message across. At some point later on in the interview, Labrador returned to this theme.
