Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert took on all comers Sunday on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos ” to argue that House Republicans have “the power to force others to adhere to the Constitution” by keeping money for Obamacare out of September budget talks. Democrats jumped on him, of course, but even conservative columnist George Will, like other establishment Republicans, said a government shutdown would be a public relations disaster for the GOP. Meanwhile, conservative stalwarts like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint say defunding Obamacare is a Republican duty.
