In early July, a White House petition was created under the title, “Declare Muslim Brotherhood organization as a terrorist group.”
Rumblings about Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood-backed Mohamed Morsi regime began surfacing almost from his election in June of 2012, and really began surfacing in January, when a lone protester could be seen on Cairo’s Tahrir Square carrying a huge sign that read, “Obama you jerk, Muslim Brotherhoods are killing the Egyptians.”
Although Morsi was overthrown by a military coup on July 3, things are still fluid and the Muslim Brotherhood is still a major force in Egypt.
Hence the petition, which reads as follows:
Muslim Brotherhood has a long history of violent killings & terrorizing opponents. Also MB has direct ties with most terrorist groups like Hamas.
A book by one of their prominent figures, Sayyid Qutb, called Ma’alim fi-l-Tariq is the bible for many terrorist groups.
The Muslim Brotherhood has shown in the past few days that it is willing to engage in violence and killing of innocent civilians in order to invoke fear in the hearts of its opponents. This is terrorism.
We ask the US government to declare MB as a terrorist group for a safer future for all of us.
As set up by the White House, “We the People” petitions must be receive a response when:
The petition receives 150 signatures within the first 30 days, and, It accumulates 100,000 signatures within the following 30 days.
The petition was created on July 7, and as of Tuesday gathered more than 100,000 signatures.
So what’s your answer, Mr. President? Will you declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization?
